WORLD SHOOT REPORT DAY 7
Sunday saw the shoot off finals and a final scramble around the trade tent to make those final purchases. Also a few squads shot their final stage on Sunday morning. A large crowd watched the shoot off finals and cheered on the winner of each stage.
The results
The results were printed in bulk and handed out at the Award Dinner on Sunday evening, but the final results are still not up on the match website. A few links to the results have been posted on the Global Village.
The WSXVI IPSC Division World Champions are as follows
Revolver: Ricardo Lopez
Modified: Zdenek Henes
Standard: Blake Miguez
Production: Bob Vogel
Open: Eric Grauffel
Level IV and V matches have their problems, whether it is with the stages or hotels and everything else in between. WSXVI was no exception, but I enjoyed shooting the match and the atmosphere that goes with a world championship.
Eric Grauffel accepts the Open Division cup from a very pleased Massimo Tanfoglio!
Congratulations
Congratulations to Eric Grauffel in winning his fifth IPSC World Championship in Open Division. The French shooters gathered in a group and in English shouted out one, two, three, four, five! As Eric stood for the French National Anthem they belted out La Marseillaise!JC took third place in Standard Division. His wife Noemi, Ralf and Saul congratulate him.
The USA did very well
The USA did very well across all divisions and categories. The high light for me was Russia winning the Lady’s Production Division in both individual and team. As they were on a different time schedule from me I was able to watch the USA and Russian Lady’s Production teams shooting. The plane taking the French competitors back home was cancelled and they are spending another night in Rhodes. I suppose there are worse places you could be stranded! Below I have added a few more images from the closing ceremony.
As per usual Switzerland took home a collection of silver wear!
