The .357 Sig Pistol Cartridge for IPSC Competition Shooting?

THE .357 SIG pistol cartridge was produced in a joint venture between German firearms manufacturer Sig Sauer and the American ammunition manufacturer Federal Cartridge Company. While it is based on a .40 S&W cartridge case necked down to accept a 9mm  ( 0.355 inch ) bullet, the .357 Sig cartridge case is slightly longer than the .40 S&W. The .357 Sig was developed for law enforcement use to try and duplicate the performance of the .357 Magnum revolver round and now also sees increasing use in IPSC competition shooting as well. Like many other calibres, it is slightly misnamed, as the .357 Sig actually uses .355 inch ( 9mm ) diameter bullets.

The Sig Sauer P229 chambered for .357 Sig is currently used by both the US Secret Service and US Federal Air Marshall Service. Its use by these two organisations has increased both the Sig pistol’s and the .357 Sig’s appeal to the law enforcement market.

Cold Steel Knives

As a tool, it is important to have a good knife in an outdoor environment; from fishing and hunting to camping, hill walking and climbing, with which to perform general utility chores. They can also readily fulfill specialty functions such as on a boat or in demanding law enforcement, military and survival and rescue applications. I have been trying out a range of knives manufactured by Cold Steel ( www.coldsteel-uk.com ), using the outdoor environments and the hunting field as our testing ground.

Ghost Competition and Duty Holsters

Ghost International Limited came about as the result of the cooperation between three individuals who had a visionary goal to develop one company that would combine the civilian sport shooting world with duty equipment that was suitable for both law enforcement and military units. They believe that the combination and mix of knowledge and experience of both these worlds would assist in delivering the perfect end result in each product they manufactured.

Since 1975 Sandro Amadini has been the owner of Amadini Custom, one of the leading manufacturers of IPSC belts, holsters and magazine pouches. Sandro is one of Italy’s highly regarded gunsmiths for both IPSC as well for Special Operations Units throughout Europe. Over the years he has invented most of the products to come from Ghost International.

The Kata Sensitivity V Backpack

A year ago, I started looking for a backpack that could act as a laptop bag and a bag to carry a digital SLR, the associated cables and leads and writing material, plus have a bit of space left over to add additional personal items.

Kata Bags introduced a series of ergonomic bags, which incorporate futuristic lines and shapes. I have been using their Sensitivity V backpack for almost a year. The entire bag is made from Kata's soft Elasto Guard laminate material. The outside of the bag is entirely black, but the interior is bright yellow. The yellow interior makes it easier to find things inside the bag. The

Redding Reloading: A Total Resizing Die for .40 S&W Cartridge Case

Redding Reloading has brought out a total resizing die for the .40S&W cartridge case. The product is designed to totally resize the .40 S&W cartridge case by allowing the case to pass fully through the die. The dimensions in the start of the chamber in the barrel of .40 S&W calibre pistols intended for police duty use, such as the Glock, are very generous to allow the chambering of any style of bullet in extreme environmental conditions of dirt, dust and moisture. During firing the cartridge case will expand and retain the dimensions of the chamber it was fired in. As the military and law enforcement do not reload this is not an issue for them.

As the majority of us who participate in IPSC events reload, a lot of the fired cartridge cases we
