European Handgun Championships 2010

Belgrade, Serbia

The 2010 IPSC European Practical Pistol Championships were held in Serbia. This event takes place every three years and was held on the northern outskirts of Belgrade. The competition were organised by IPSC Serbia, with the assistance of the Delta Shooting Range, which ensured their range complex was fit for purpose, which included construction of all the stages, rest areas and trade displays for the event. The match is termed “The Battle of the Knights” and all of the stages have a medieval theme. There is an abundance of javelins, axes, battering rams and catapults as props.

IPSC Pistol Training Course with Eric Grauffel

The knowledge and skill base of a champion IPSC competitor’s potential is contained in the depth of their experience. Eric Grauffel, one of the most successful IPSC competitors in the world, shares this knowledge and skill base with other shooters in several types of training course. After taking part in an IPSC Level III Championship Match Eric typically runs one of his training courses. I spent one of these days with the current IPSC European and World Champion and closely examined how Eric demonstrated his skills and impaired other competitors with the knowledge to improve their performance in IPSC competition.

The MFS Open 2010

Organised by the DVLE Apaffay Shooting Range in Debrecen, the MFS Open Level III IPSC Championship Match took place over the 9th – 11th July. First organised in 2006, this was the fifth match in the series to take place. Hungary is one of the new IPSC Regions in Eastern Europe. These regions have established themselves to the point where they now have some of the world’s best IPSC competitors and organise some of the best matches in the European IPSC match circuit. This Level III IPSC competition was sponsored by MFS 2000 ( www.mfs2000.hu ), which is an ammunition manufacturing company in Hungary. First set up in 1952 to provide ammunition for Hungary’s military and law enforcement organisations, they now also provide a range of ammunition suitable for both target shooting and hunting.
