The Spyderco Resilience Working Knife
Thinking beyond the established knife industry barriers has allowed Spyderco to introduce new and radical innovations to knife design. These include one handed opening, full or partly serrated blades on a folding knife and a clip to attach a knife to a pocket. Spyderco researches and develops new improved and better performing materials, with function and reliability being the key. The recognisable appearance of Spyderco knives is a result of designing a pocket knife to be an ergonomic functional tool.

Spyderco Resilience
Spyderco ResilienceSpyderco's collection of folding knives is named after human characteristics. The Persistence is the smallest, the Tenacious is mid-sized, and the Resilience the largest. All three sizes of folders offer a high level of performance, in both the materials they are constructed from and in cutting performance.
The Spyderco Resilience features a 4.25 inch long plain edge blade.
The G10 scaled handle gives you a good grip on the knife even when you hands are wet.
The Resilience has a full flat ground 8Cr13MoV stainless blade with a full length cutting edge. Jimping cross-hatches the back of the blade to provide a slip proof seat for your thumb while grasping and cutting. The black G-10 handle scales house skeletonised steel liners inside a Michael Walker Liner Lock screw together construction. There are phosphor bronze washers around the pivot of the blade for a smooth and resistance free opening action. A stainless steel pocket clip is four way compatible for tip up – tip down and left or right hand carry.
The keen edge on the blade will enable you to easily cut through skin and sinew.
The Resilience blade is ⅛ inch ( 3mm ) at its thickest and is available with a plain edge blade and the total weight of 5.4 ounces ( 154g ). The blade is 4 ¼ inches ( 108mm ) long, with an overall length of 9 ⅜ inches ( 238mm ) with a closed length of 5 ¼ inches ( 133mm ).
When hunting deer I carry the Resilience in a knife pocket in the trousers I wear. A cord loop secured to an eyehole in the G-10 handle enables me to easily withdraw the knife from the pocket when it is required. The stainless steel pocket clip also enables you to secure the knife to a pocket or in the top of your pants. The cord loop can also be threaded through your belt to provide extra retention security, which will be required when crawling or negotiating thick cover.
The blade will easily slice through tough muscle. These cuts on the deer’s hind legs
are to enable it to be hung up in a larder to finish the gutting process.
I have been using the Resilience knife to deal with deer I shoot. This includes both in the field and in a larder. After a deer is shot it is important that the blood is quickly drained from the carcass to prevent the meat being tainted. Once I shoot a deer I use the Resilience to make an incision along the neck. This enables me to sever the major blood vessels in the upper chest to drain the blood from the body of the deer. In highland deer stalking you can now complete the process of removing the body organs and intestines from the deer. In lowland or wood land deer stalking the deer can be dressed out where it was shot or if a larder is available the deer can be taken there for this process to be completed. The sharp four inch blade of the Resilience will easily cut through skin and muscle and can handle an animal up to the size of a Fallow deer.
The sharp edge of the Resilience easily removes a section of skin from the chest
to enable the deer to be cleaned out in a larder setting.
Product Development
Product DevelopmentMaking knives that consistently deliver reliable high performance requires an ongoing commitment to research and development and evaluation. In their testing facility Spyderco examine blade sharpness retention, rust resistance and check the force needed to open and close a knife. They also repeatedly test for stress, wear, optimal heat treating and also actively search for higher quality and performance enhancing blade steels and handle materials. When you purchase a Spyderco you are buying a high quality reliable cutting tool with a comfortable handle, which is designed and manufactured for peak performance.
You can see that the Spyderco Resilience knife enables the user to make clean and neat cuts
through both hide and skin and to assist in the clean removal of body organs and intestines.
Spyderco hold immense pride and commitment to manufacturing the high grade quality cutlery. They are a small family owned company, who are constantly innovating new products which are sold in over 50 countries. Those who want a quality knife carry a Spyderco.
